Welcome to the Positive Character and Well-being Laboratory at the City University of Hong Kong, where we work at the forefront of understanding positive characters, good mental health and their underlying processes. Our goal is to foster an open conversation about well-being and cultivate positive human qualities through leadership in research, training, and communication.

Our research team conduct world-class, cutting-edge research on different aspects of well-being, different pathways to characters, and innovative interventions to support mental wellness. We are aware of the challenges and opportunities in global mental health, and we strive to promote social and emotional wellness through various research projects. In particular, our programs encourage people to practice small acts of forgiveness, in which forgiveness functions as a psychological adjustment mechanism leading to better well-being.

The Positive Character and Well-being Laboratory is dedicated to improving mental health for all people worldwide, and in working alongside our collaborators globally to make the world a better place. We offer exciting opportunities, and we invite you to join and connect with us.
